Let Me Check You For Ticks
Picked up my baby in my big 'ol truck
She was showin' lots of skin, candy for the eyes
Makin' out in the woods; truck got stuck
Had to walk out of there, I tell you no lies

Told her there's critters in the woods that you can see
But there's some you can't
You might get stung by a hornet or a bee
A mosquito or a fire ant

But there's one little critter that's truly the worst
Burrow right on in under your skin
For no doubt, better let me check it out, oh yeah

(So) (Now) Come on, baby, let me check you for ticks
You know them little things can make you mighty sick
Oh, lettin' ticks dig in, mmm, says country hick
So come on, baby, let me check you for ticks

Baby, baby, I got two off your back
You better turn over; never know what's there
Now you don't want to have a tick attack
Let me help you out, girl; you know I care

Repeat CHORUS (2x)

Oh, yeah, baby, just let me check you right over there...

Short Song Description:
They're out in the woods, walking. He explains to her that ticks can be a real problem out there and that he needs to "check" her for ticks.
Long Song Description:
They're masking out in the woods in his truck. When they tried to move the truck, it was stuck in the mud. So they had to walk out. He explains to her that ticks can be a real problem out there and that he needs to "check" her for ticks. Found some on her back; needs her to turn over.
Story Behind the Song:
Went to a Gene Watson concert recently. He was lamenting on stage about the current state of country music. He said somebody even wrote a song about ticks (I'm assuming he was referring to the Brad Paisley song of a long time ago). Anyway, notwithstanding the earlier song, I wrote this one. It's perfect for Ray Stevens.
